Margaret’s Folly has been building websites since 1997. That’s a long time! We’ve cut our teeth building websites as the technology has changed drastically over the years. (Whoever heard of an iPad in 1997?) With our years of experience, we’ve gained a vast amount of knowledge, particularly in search engine optimization and social media marketing.
We crafted this FAQ page to answer many of the frequently asked questions that we have been asked along the way.
How much does a website cost?
The cost of a website can vary depending on various factors, just like the cost of a house may vary. Though our website projects generally start in the $2,800 to $3,000 range for basic business sites. They range upward depending on your unique needs.
How long does it take to design and build a website?
The time it takes to produce a website depends on the size and complexity of your site and the quality of content that you have at the ready… but a basic website typically takes around 4 weeks from beginning to end.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the internet. It’s unique… much like your phone number or your physical address is unique. Typically this would be something like yourcompany.com.
Do I need my own domain name?

What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System (CMS) is a tool that allows you to maintain the pages of your website yourself, without the need for any technical skills. All you need is a web browser and an internet connection.
Do you provide training?

We can also design your email blasts. And we can provide you with an affordable package for your social media marketing and your email marketing services.
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Search Engine Optimization is all about getting your website found higher up in the search results on search engines such as Google. The higher up in the results that your website is found, the more traffic (and customers) you’re likely to get.
There are numerous aspects that go into achieving good SEO, and one of the most important is the copy (words) on your website. Focus on well written, keyword rich and appropriate content is the key. But there’s more to it than that. We build SEO into our websites as we develop them, using every bit of SEO “real estate” as we possibly can. Then we put you in the driver’s seat, showing you how to keep up the momentum that we started.
Do you write the content for my site?
If you don’t have written content or you’re just not good at writing, we will most certainly assist you with your website’s content… for an additional fee. But we’ll need input from you. After all, you know your business better than anyone. But we know how to write effective website copy. Together, we can create something beautiful.
Can you design my logo?
Oh, yes we can! We’d love to design your logo. The web has changed so many aspects of marketing. If you don’t have a logo, we’d be thrilled to provide you with a logo that works across many platforms – from your website to your business cards to your Facebook page and more.
